Meilink is working with the four teams on beautiful solutions and innovative designs for the packaging and transportation of these solar cars. It is an entire process, from design to the final development and delivery of customized box packaging solutions for transporting the solar cars to Australia. This cooperation with the solar teams fits in very well with the sustainable image that Meilink is striving for. Moreover, it is a wonderful project: working together with young, enthusiastic and committed people who are achieving great successes.
Every year a great challenge
This year Meilink is actively and enthusiastically supporting the four Dutch teams. The technically innovative and sustainable, future-oriented aspect of both the product and the participants, combined with the enormous challenge of the competition itself, is of course fantastic! Meilink is contributing with great enthusiasm in the form of knowledge and experience.
A unique design for every car
The four crates, in which the cars will be transported, are custom-made, each with its own specific characteristics and requirements. For the solar cars, the student teams developed flexible packaging together with a number of Meilink employees. These are suitable for transport by air freight or by sea freight, so that they are also suitable for land transport in containers in Australia. This week the team from TU Delft reported that the solar car has arrived safely in Australia.

Working together on precision work
Meilink made its expertise available for the construction of the transport boxes of the special solar racing cars. In cooperation with the students, the wishes and innovative ideas were worked out, with sustainability also being a central issue. Because the cars are built of sensitive materials, so-called mold support is necessary on all sides in addition to the box itself, so that transportation can be as safe as possible. This is an enormous challenge, but at the same time it is also the work that Meilink delivers to its customers every day.
Because the solar cars were made especially for this race, the packaging is also completely different from that of previous years. Some used materials from previous years' boxes have been sustainably reused for other purposes. We wish all teams the best of luck in achieving their goals!
