Training as an embalmer contributes to even higher level of quality

Meilink offers employees from all branches access to the emballeur training course. In 2014, the first employees successfully completed this training and now the counter stands at approximately 100 employees. Both current colleagues and new entrants are following this professional training. The training officially falls under BBL, which means Beroeps Begeleidende Leerweg. Gosse Terpstra, KAM manager for Meilink, played a major role in the realization of this course. He is retiring after 43 years, leaving behind a valuable tool for his colleagues.

Gosse Terpstra: "For years I've been gathering a lot of knowledge about industrial packaging. But because my retirement was approaching and that knowledge was not recorded anywhere, we decided to collect all that expertise, put it down on paper and offer it to our employees in the form of a course. In 2011, together with a colleague, I started selecting a training institute that could assist us with this, and Tutorial training institute in Enschede was ultimately chosen. Through forum groups in the company we collected all this knowledge, assessed it and made it suitable for training under the guidance of Tutorial. In 2014, the first colleagues were trained, assessed for competence and provided with a certificate

Combination of e-learning and practical training

Colleagues participate in this through e-learning. They log in at home or at another place of residence and can follow the theoretical part of the training. The practical part takes place during the actual work. To this end, we use the principle of 'train the trainer'. These specially trained colleagues are able to transfer the knowledge to the participants during the practical training program. Linked to this are also practical assignments which the participants must complete successfully. External supervisors check whether all this is done in accordance with the industry requirements."
