Meilink from Borculo has been named the best industrial supplier 2016 in the Netherlands. With this, Meilink won the prestigious Best Logistics Supplier Award DISCA'16. An achievement that the company fully attributes to the innovative and dynamic efforts of all its employees. The Dutch Industrial Supplier & Customer Awards 2016, an initiative of LINK Magazine in collaboration with ING Bank, software developer ISAH and the Netherlands Patent Office NLO, were presented for the fifteenth time in succession. What is unique about this award is that companies cannot nominate themselves but that their clients and/or suppliers do this for them. This means that Meilink won this award thanks to the enormous support of its customers. "The best compliment the employees of Meilink can receive," said the management of Meilink.
Decisive role for the public
Like last year, the audience in the room, consisting of entrepreneurs and managers, played a decisive role in the final selection of the nominees. They were each given the choice of two finalists nominated by the juries (chairmen Henk Volberda, professor at Erasmus University and John Blankendaal, director Brainport Industries) and could vote for one candidate with their smartphone.
Pitch of Meilink customer highly appreciated
The DISCA has three categories: Best Knowledge, Best Logistics and Best Customer. In the Best Logistics category, 30 companies survived the first screening. The determining factors in this category are delivery reliability and smart logistics. After an extensive assessment, five finalists remained, of whom Meilink and Vedos achieved the best jury scores. After two live pitches by nominating customers, the verdict of the public was decisive and Meilink won. Managing director Peter Rikken of Meilink was happy with the result. "Absolutely. We add something for our customers. We are happy with the appreciation we receive from them. It is very special to hear our client IMS in Almelo speak so highly of Meilink during their pitch. We are a down-to-earth Achterhoek family business, and it's very rewarding to see that clients are so positive about us."
Commendable jury report
The DISCA jury praised Meilink: "Supplier of packaging and transport services in the broadest sense. The company is pre-eminently capable of transporting complex, highly fragile products from its customers safely and quickly to the end customer. The company develops solid, well-protected packaging made to measure, also takes care of the transport documentation and the internal transport and knows the infrastructure even in faraway countries. Very flexible, unburdens the customer. Quickly adapts their production and services if the customer is late or early. They do not appear to be the cheapest, but they are in an excellent position to unburden the customer completely, which means that their total cost price is low. Peter Rikken: "This last sentence in particular sums up exactly what makes Meilink different."
